I joined Faith in 2003, and Charlie and I were married here in 2004. While working in Russellville, we were “Weekenders” in the Village for 10 years. I retired four years ago after teaching elementary school for 36 years. I have joined the “Ringers” Handbell Choir as well as the Altar Guild, am president of the Ladies Guild, and am a Reader several times each year. Other activities include helping Thanksgiving and Christmas charity projects, and serving as an usher and co-chair of Service Group 2.
I was born in Red Bud in Southern Illinois. Was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Prairie) until we moved to the Village; served as Financial Secretary and Treasurer.
My employment years in the Federal Government included Farmers Home Administration, U.S. Army, and Veterans Administration Medical Center at Jefferson Barracks; retired in 2000 after 32 ½ years.
Dave and I moved to the village in 2007 after vacationing/golfing here since 1980.
When first visiting here, we were happy to find a Missouri Synod church in the village. Since becoming members, I have been Financial Secretary for the church and treasurer for LWML ladies Guild.
I enjoy spending time with fellow members in the Bell Choir, Monday morning quilt making for world relief and Wednesday morning Ladies Bible Study.
I moved to the village from Illinois in January 1995, and immediately transferred my membership to Faith Lutheran church. I have been a Missouri Synod Lutheran since birth.
I was very active in Immanuel Lutheran church, in the small town of Loda.
I was on the church council holding the office of treasurer. I was also the president of our Ladies Aid/LWML society, at the time when we moved I was President of the Danville Zone LWML, a position I thoroughly enjoyed.
We travel a lot to Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee where our family members live.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Let me introduce myself. I am Donald Hefta. I was born and raised in North Dakota. I am a graduate of Portland High School, North Dakota State University and Concordia Theological Seminary. I served in the U. S. Air Force and while in the Air Force, I met and married my wife, Barbara. Barbara and I have five children: Carlee, Darcee, Daniel, Samuel and Michael.
In the ministry, I was the church planter and developer of Tree of Life Lutheran in Garland, Texas, and also the pastor of St. John’s Lutheran in Tampa, Florida and Trinity Lutheran in El Reno, Oklahoma. After thirty-four plus years in the ministry, I retired in the fall of 2018, whereupon Barb and I moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. We are blessed to be here and to be members of Faith Lutheran.
Yours in Christ’s Love, Rev. Donald R. Hefta
As a native of Lincoln Nebraska, I was an electrical contractor. My wife and I moved to Hot Springs Village in 1997 and immediately joined Faith Lutheran Church and the choir. The following year I became a trustee and have held that position to this date. In 2018 I was asked to fill the vacated position of Head Trustee
